Les dangers du carry-trade : le cas du Brésil depuis la crise des subprimes

Abstract

Malgré une croissance du PIB de 7,5% obtenue en 2010, le Brésil subit toujours les conséquences de la dernière crise économique mondiale. Le pays est directement impliqué dans une stratégie de carry-trade, et l'afflux massif d'investissements de portefeuille ainsi que la hausse de l'endettement extérieur privé depuis la deuxième moitié de la décennie 2000 sont renforcés par la création monétaire de la FED dont la volonté est de relancer l'économie américaine. Ces capitaux spéculatifs ont non seulement tendance à apprécier la monnaie brésilienne, ce qui pénalise le développement de l'appareil productif, mais ils sont aussi extrêmement volatiles, et leur départ risquerait de provoquer un éclatement très dangereux des bulles spéculatives qu'ils ont contribué à former dans la sphère financière et immobilière brésilienne.
