Gratuité et tourisme : quel modèle économique?

Abstract

L e mot gratuité provient du latin gratia issu de la racine indo-euro-péenne « gar » avec l'idée de louange. Gratia a également hérité du grec charis, qui a donné en français aussi bien charité que cherté. On retrouve donc dans l'idée de gratuité, celles de surabondance, de pléni-tude, de chose chérie directement héritée des racines grecque et latine. Les Anglo-Saxons réservent la grâce au reli-gieux et préfèrent l'utilisation du mot free pour désigner ce qui est gratuit. Ce qui est gratuit est donc libre : libre de droit, libre d'usage, libre d'accès… Autrement dit, l'usage que je fais de la chose ne restreint pas son libre usage par d'autres. La notion de gratuité liée à celle de liberté est largement sous-tendue par celle de propriété.
