Emerging countries' multinational companies investing in developed countries: at odds with the HOS paradigm?

Abstract

The paper shows that the reverse flow of foreign direct investment from emerging countries to developed countries cannot be explained in a standard HOS framework. Illustrative data are provided for Indian and Chinese multinatioal companies.
