The identification and the search of routine signals as a contribution to creative competitive intelligence

Abstract

Innovation has become very important for companies, notably for their competitiveness. In this context, we focus on creative competitive intelligence and its potential contributions. Then, we consider that the goals of a creative competitive intelligence are to identify innovation opportunity signals for organizations and relevant information for creative workers (designers, stylists, architects, landscape architects, artists, craftsmen, R&D engineers ...). With this in mine, we propose to look for routine signals that indicate a repetition in the product design. Our experimentation focuses on two cases of innovation in design of home video game controllers. We verify whether some people can recognize routines linked to these controllers design.
