Une conception du développement durable en termes de justification (Première partie)

Abstract

Dans cet article en deux parties dont voici la première, l'auteur présentera la solution qu'il a trouvé, comme point d'aboutissement de sa recherche sur "la société moderne", pour comprendre pourquoi, pendant deux siècles, on ne s'est pas préoccupé du fait que le "développement réellement existant" n'était pas durable. L'explication est la suivante : le genre de société "moderne" qui a vu le jour en Europe relève d'un modèle particulier : les institutions de base (la citoyenneté, la monnaie, l'Etat, le commerce, le salariat, la finance,..) sont justifiées en se référant à une conception de ce qui est "juste et bien" qui est enfermée dans le présent et qui ne prend en compte que les humains, en considérant que la "nature" n'est qu'un décor du social. Cette première modernité est aujourd'hui en crise. Une seconde modernité, faisant sa place à une autre conception de ce qui est "juste et bien" en raison, est seule à même de conduire à un développement durable.
