Abstract

A comparative case study reveals that an analysis of means between two large voluntary organizations is not sufficient to distinguish their online strategies. The strategic dynamics and the sense of action are actually played by network actors all along the appropriation process of these means. A successful NPO strategy offers benefits for NPO itself, for individuals who belong to it or interact with it and for society as a whole. The analysis of situations carried out through an interpretivist approach concludes however the need for transversal approach to understanding IT strategy in NPOs, and shows the complexity and the richness of NPO's Internet strategy.
