Abstract

ADVANCING A CONTENT AND PROCESS VIEW OF ORGANIZATIONAL SOCIALIZATION: THE DEVELOPMENT OF A NEW SCALEThe development of OS scales is very recent, yet important for OS research. Following both a process-based and a content-based analysis, this paper claims that existing OS scales are not satisfactory. The development of OS scales has been primarily concerned with the identification of OS contents, and inspired by a learning view of the process. Therefore, the internalization process received less attention, although its importance has been increasingly recognized in the literature. We develop a new OS scale, that takes into account both the underlying socialization processes and socialization contents. This scale was tested on a sample of 195 graduates in the early stage of their career.
