Temps psychologique, oubli et intérêt chez Maurice Allais

Abstract

Dans le cadre de sa "Théorie Héréditaire et Relativiste", Allais (1965) montre qu'il est possible de proposer un système de postulats - lesquels peuvent naturellement être discutés - permettant de passer formellement du référentiel de temps astronomique au référentiel de temps psychologique, ce dernier régissant la psychologie des agents au cours des échanges économiques. En exprimant les grandeurs ayant une dimension par rapport au temps dans le temps psychologique, il devient alors possible d'expliquer la variabilité de certains phénomènes (notamment les taux d'intérêt) par le seul fait de la déformation relative des échelles des deux référentiels de temps. Ceci peut donner sens à l'idée de rechercher des "constantes universelles". Il est montré par exemple que si le taux d'inflation et le taux d'intérêt observés au cours de l'hyperinflation allemande du début des années 20 sont exprimés dans le temps psychologique, ces variables ont des structures temporelles et des variances comparables à celles observées en périodes « courantes ». Il y a donc là manifestement un paradigme original susceptible de permettre des progrès dans tous les champs de l'analyse économique, en mettant à jour des régularités cachées dans les comportements
