L'estime de soi, enjeu éducatif pour préparer à la vie professionnelle

Abstract

Nos études sur les parcours formation-insertion de jeunes passés par l'enseignement professionnel visent à éclairer l'action éducative en lycée professionnel. Elles ont mobilisé des matériaux quantitatifs et qualitatifs. L'orientation vers une section professionnelle se traduit, pour près de la moitié des élèves, par un désintérêt pour la scolarité, nourri par une vision négative de soi-même. L'enjeu pour l'action éducative en lycée professionnel consiste donc à reconstruire, chez ces jeunes, une vision positive et ouvrir des perspectives de réussite. En faisant référence à A. Sen, l'analyse met en évidence, chez les jeunes, des capacités différentes à se formuler des objectifs et des critères d'acceptabilité, à se saisir de ressources pour le parcours et des différences dans l'estime de soi.
