Abstract

Les deux dernières décennies ont été marquées, au sein de l'Europe de l'Ouest, par une croissance importante des échanges internationaux de personnes et de marchandises. Cette croissance est généralement imputée à une baisse des effets-frontière, observables en comparant des flux intérieurs à des flux internationaux de même nature. Peut-on, en observant les évolutions de trafic notées durant les années 80, mettre effectivement en évidence cette baisse ? Après une discussion de la pertinence des données disponibles, l'article présente des évaluations d'effets-frontière, pour les flux de voyageurs et les échanges de marchandises. Ces analyses débouchent sur une réflexion critique à propos du concept d'effet-frontière.
