Abstract

Cet ouvrage montre comment les économistes traitent de l'éducation, en n'omettant pas parfois d'établir des ponts avec d'autres disciplines, comme la sociologie de l'éducation. Un premier chapitre s'attache à la question des coûts de l'éducation. Le second chapitre cherche à montrer qui finance l'éducation aujourd'hui et comment les économistes envisagent la question d'un financement juste et efficace. Les comparaisons internationales se révélent souvent utiles en la matière. Le troisième chapitre définit les méthodes promues par les économistes pour identifier les conditions de production les plus performantes en matière d'éducation, ainsi que leurs principaux résultats. Le quatrième chapitre aborde l'impact économique de l'éducation, au niveau de l'individu comme au niveau de la société dans son ensemble. Il discute des relations entre l'éducation et la marché du travail, ainsi que de la contribution de l'éducation à la croissance et au développement.
