Abstract

This text analyzes links between the diverse forms of LETS (Local Exchange and Trading Systems) and the new social economy. Both share some common purposes. By their actions, LETS aims at the institution of new economic relations based on solidarity, proceeding from relational and spatial proximity. Market exchanges and State redistribution do not answer to these needs. The text draws up two ideal types, depending on whether they verge on market exchange or on reciprocity. Moreover, it emphasizes what endangers the solidarity project of LETS.
