Abstract

The protection of vulnerable road users in African cities: the case of the most dangerous sites for pedestrians in Ouagadougou. - The Urban Mobility Component of the SSATP (World Bank) entrusted TRL and SITRASS a framework for a road safety action plan targeted on the design and implementation in two African cities (Harare and Ouagadougou) of low-cost road safety measures to improve the effective mobility of those the most affected by road accidents : the pedestrians. In other to target that objective, the action plan have to select and analyse sites of high accident risk to pedestrians within the two cities, evaluate the road safety knowledge of divers, pedestrians and children, and ensure that senior policy makers are made more aware of need for improving road safety for pedestrians in their countries.
