Après-développement ou autre développement ? Un examen des termes du débat

Abstract

L'objet de ce papier est d'examiner le plus «scientifiquement» possible les termes de ce débat. Est-on en présence de divergences de fond ou s'agit-il surtout d'un débat relatif au langage qu'il faut employer pour faire comprendre une position commune et y faire adhérer le plus grand nombre possible de ceux qui perçoivent que l'humanité «va dans le mur» si elle continue sur sa lancée actuelle ? Une prise en compte sans a priori des deux positions en présence débouche sur cette question (I). On ne peut y répondre qu'en se dotant d'une analyse positive conséquente du développement réellement existant, une analyse qui mette en exergue la distance qui existe entre ce dernier et la représentation qu'en donne la science économique dominante (II). Cette analyse permet de clarifier les positions en présence et de mieux voir en quoi elles se différencient au-delà des slogans (III).
