Abstract

La production agricole chinoise présente une importance majeure pour le développement du pays comme pour le commerce international. Il y a dix ans, L. Brown (1994) annonçait que la Chine, du fait de son processus d'industrialisation, réduirait inévitablement ses surfaces cultivées provoquant ainsi une crise des marchés céréaliers mondiaux. Cependant les données récentes chinoises et une analyse quantitative à travers trois scénarios suggèrent que le problème des céréales se pose dans des termes nouveaux et que la spécialisation dans les produits agricoles à forte intensité de main d'oeuvre semble en bonne voie.
