Abstract

[eng] The procedure « Enterprises Aid » is granted by the French National Agency of VAluation of Research (ANVAR) and it consists in giving repayable advances based on an innovation programme initiated by a firm. The study of this type of procedure during the 1986-1990 period shows that the success of the innovation programme is not always characterized by ancient relationships with ANVAR. One needs also to have an ability to inno-vate which can be measured by a high rate of success in the preceding innovation programmes. It remains that young firms are more prone to succeed in the innovation programme. On the contrary the failure of the innovation programme may lead to the failure of the firm. In effect when setting-up an innovative firm the risk of innovation adds up to the high probability of exit in the population of new firms. This type of linkage is found in the south regions of France.
