Abstract

Cette étude de cas historique met en lumière la façon dont le concept de mode a émergé au XVIIIe siècle à travers l'évocation du parcours de la première « marchande de mode », Rose Bertin (1747-1813), dont les succès commerciaux dépassèrent les frontières de la France et jetèrent des bases décisives pour l'émergence d'un « country specific advantage » français dont les effets positifs perdurent encore aujourd'hui.
