Abstract

Research on internal communication has shifted over the past thirty years from the development of analytical models to the study of the function and communicators, thereby refocusing research on organizations where an internal communication function exists. The study of thirty small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the same sector, specifically the graphic arts industry, serves as a basis for re-examining the modelling of internal communication. The result is a model centred around six communicative dynamics, as well as a developmental model of these communicative dynamics in relation to the size of the organization.
