Abstract

On the basis of an invitation from the Professor Robert Le Duff, this article questions, in a parallelism of forms, the fundamental driving forces which underlie wealth, as well as those which underlie risk from the point of view of nations. With reference to the work of Adam Smith, the systemic nature of the exercise is pointed out. While taking care to resituate the thoughts and aims of Adam Smith, the latter are discussed in the light of the proposed transposition exercise.
