Abstract

Although entrepreneurial support has grown significantly alongside the development of an entrepreneurial society, the proportion of supported entrepreneurs remains paradoxically low. The challenge is to make support services more accessible. To address this, it is necessary to shift the focus of analysis from one centered on Entrepreneurial Support Organizations (ESO) to an ecosystem-based perspective. This ambition is at the core of the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Lab's research program. This article highlights the progress made around concepts such as sub-ecosystems, ecosystemic path dependence, and the ecosystemic legitimacy of ESO. These new approaches are particularly valuable for policymakers and actors involved in entrepreneurial support.
