Abstract

Blockchain technology is a major innovation in supply chain management. Many business sectors are now using this technology. In this context, this paper aims at answering the following question by mobilising the agency theory as an analytical grid: How can we create blockchain solutions that allow us to reduce the necessary level of trust and increase the transparency of information within the supply chain? To do so, we rely on action research conducted with a river network manager. This article shows that (i) blockchain technology encourages a convergence of interests between players, (ii) this convergence of interests is based on pre-existing trust in the project and (iii) the various blockchain solutions facilitate collaboration between players to a greater or lesser extent.
