Abstract

This article explores the conflict management surrounding the payment of local bonuses at the University of Mbandaka (Unimba) in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Against the backdrop of ongoing economic crises, these bonuses are crucial for motivating academic, administrative, and technical staff. However, irregular payments and unclear allocation criteria create significant tensions and dissatisfaction. Survey results indicate that 76% of staff are not supported by the state, while 95% consider bonus payments irregular. Most employees find the amounts insufficient, and 60% rate the remuneration policy as poor. These challenges undermine the quality of services provided to students. The study suggests solutions such as enhanced transparency, participatory management, and increased state funding.
