Abstract

The link between entrepreneurial orientation and performance has been much discussed and debated in the academic literature, however there is a scarcity of research related to its impact on the triple bottom line. As entrepreneurial orientation has become a source of competitive advantage, increased attention is given to the mechanisms linking it with superior sustainability performance. In this paper, we examine the conduit role that supply chain learning plays in translating entrepreneurial orientation into the performance dimensions of the triple bottom line. Using structural equation modelling with latent interactions on 526 firms, across 9 countries, we found that entrepreneurial orientation boosts the supply chain learning process and impacts environmental and business performance. Although, entrepreneurial orientation did not have an impact on social performance dimension, the supply chain learning acted as mediator of the entrepreneurial orientation and the triple bottom line link. The proposed study extends the literature by disentangling the supply chain mechanisms through which firms may enhance the impact of entrepreneurial orientation on the triple bottom line.
