Abstract

Une thèse se fait en trois ans, un programme de recherche en un temps lui aussi fini.Ensuite, le financement s'arrête, et il faut enchaîner un autre projet (postdoc, ou une autre recherche). C'est le mérite de Peirce que d'avoir reconnu la dimension économique du problème (bien que cet aspect de sa pensée ait été complètement négligé avant que Nicholas Rescher ne s'y intéresse - Rescher, 1976) : tout l'art du chercheur consiste en effet à affecter des moyens limités (contrat de recherche, temps de travail) de manière à obtenir le résultat scientifique optimal.
