Abstract

El articulo da cuenta del adelantamiento de la transición demográfica en las zonas rurales de América Latina y de su impacto sobre la dinámica de la agricultura familiar en el continente, subrayando la presencia de esta problemática desde el aporte de Chayanov. A continuación, evalúa la relación entre la dinámica demográfica y los temas de debate que aparecen en la literatura sobre agricultura familiar, en particular las características de la "nueva ruralidad", el tema del género y del empoderamiento de las mujeres y la cuestión del traslado intergeneracional de las unidades productivas. El contexto demográfico aparece como uno de los factores que condicionan la evolución de la agricultura familiar.
