Formalisation et fonctions de l’éthique des entreprises multinationales: une approche par les dispositifs

Abstract

L'éthique est devenue incontournable pour les entreprises multinationales, qui lui dédient des outils de manière croissante, mais dont les contours demeurent trop peu définis. Nous explorons la nature et les fonctions des outils éthiques (code de conduite, valeur et formation), grâce à une étude de cas multiples de 19 multinationales, incluant 30 entretiens et des données secondaires, analysés sur Nvivo (Gioia, 2021). Ces outils éthiques, pour être efficaces et orienter vertueusement les comportements des collaborateurs, doivent être considérés comme des instruments de gestion, articulés dans des dispositifs éthiques multi-instrumentaux fortement formalisés et uniformes à l'international. Un dispositif éthique peu formalisé sert davantage des fins d'anticipation et de gestion des risques juridiques ou d'image, qu'une orientation des comportements vers plus d'éthique.
