Abstract

Mindful eating defines a non-judgmental awareness of the physical and emotional sensations experienced while eating. Studies show promising evidence of an association with healthier eating behavior. Our objective was to explore the experiences of overweight or obese patients who participated in a mindful eating program at the University Hospital of Montpellier. Eleven semi-structured interviews were conducted with patients who participated in the last two mindful eating programs implemented in March 2021 and October 2021. The interviews were recorded by using a dictaphone and manually transcribed. A thematic content analysis was used. The thematization process was carried out using N'Vivo software and led to the emergence of twelve themes. The current study focuses on the sub-subtheme Dietary Behavior Changes of the theme "Post-Program Changes". Results shed light on perceptions of the effects of mindful eating on eating behavior.
