Abstract

The gradual deterioration of the global geopolitical framework, resulting from the difficulties caused by the financial crisis of 2008, the health crisis of 2020, the war in Ukraine, the terrorist attack by Hamas on the State of Israel, the latter's retaliation and the destabilisation of the Middle East that may follow, is a major wake-up call for corporate governance to deal more effectively with the geo-economic risks associated with such developments. These include the risk of supply disruption, which requires companies to refocus geographically, and the risk of losing export outlets as a result of the de-Westernisation of international trade, which forces companies to look for new importing countries. However, the adoption and reinforcement of this governance to deal with the two major risks identified in this communication presupposes the existence of a number of prerequisites, including practices that are more partnership-based, more open and better adapted to proposals for national and European financial aid, and above all cross-disciplinary knowledge in line with the often complex reality facing businesses.
