Abstract

This ongoing research focuses on highlighting the consequences of digitalization in the agricultural sector from the perspective of sustainable transformation through digital technology. The economic and environmental benefits, such as improved production efficiency, better market accessibility, and reduced ecological impact, are clearly established. The literature also raises costs, such as the strengthening of industrial agriculture and large energy consumption. However, the social consequences of digitalization have not been explored with the same rigor. Acknowledging this oversight, our study emphasizes the need for a human-centered approach in the field of digital agriculture, calling for a deeper analysis of social transformations within farms. To address this challenge, a workshop brought together experts from various disciplines to examine the human benefits and challenges associated with digitalization in agriculture. The aim of this multidisciplinary conversation is to develop a thorough understanding of how digitalization impacts the stakeholders in agricultural practices. The culmination of this approach is the proposal of an analytical framework designed to assess the multifaceted effects of digitalization in a nuanced manner, focusing on human interests at the heart of the agricultural sector.
