Problem of plastic packaging in Kinshasa: Factors for adoption of ecological behavior of households[Problématique d'emballages plastiques à Kinshasa : Facteurs d'adoption du comportement écologique des ménages]

The present study analyzes consumer behavior of plastic packaging. The observation made is that despite being aware of the negative impact of plastic packaging on the environment, the Congolese authorities are unable to sufficiently raise awareness among the population by putting in place viable policies for the management of these materials harmful to the environment. The Kinshasa population is not cultured because in certain corners of the city we find the presence of trash cans even if there are not enough of them, but some individuals prefer to throw plastics into nature despite the presence of trash cans. This study aimed to identify the factors associated with the adoption of ecological behavior by Kinshasa households in the consumption of plastic packaging. Primary data was collected in the communes of Kasa-vubu and Limeté from 100 households willing to respond to the survey questionnaire. After estimation, the results of the probit regression indicate that the adoption of ecological behavior of households is a function of sex (woman), level of education, stay abroad, waste management methods, sources of information, sorting garbage.
