Abstract

The entrepreneurial economy can be understood as a diptych between the theories that view the entrepreneur as an actor of a desired and controlled change, or as an agent of an economic system, capitalism. Managerial capitalism has led to the creation of a class of employees whose numbers have increased considerably since the first industrial revolution. The development of managerial capitalism at the beginning of the 20th century led economists to abandon the entrepreneur in favor of the manager. The entrepreneur is inserted into an institutional framework that conditions their activity. During the post-war growth years, the entrepreneur disappeared from the concerns of economists, with a few rare exceptions. The economic crisis of the 1970s highlighted the inability of the capitalist economy to create enough jobs, so the solution was in the capacity of the greatest number to create their own jobs.
