Abstract

1. Le livre de Franck Aggeri met le doigt sur un problème sociétal important, mais pourtant mal identifié… et c'est bien là tout ce qu'on attend d'un essai réussi. 2. D'un côté, nous vivons dans une société technophile, qui célèbre et adore les innovations : nous versons dans un biais « pro-innovation » (pour reprendre le mot du sociologue Everett M. Rodgers). Mais, de l'autre côté, nous voyons bien les effets délétères de l'innovation, lorsque celle-ci participe à un modèle productiviste dont on sait qu'il n'est pas soutenable à long terme. Cet essai pose donc la question, fort légitime dans le contexte de l'Anthropocène : pourquoi innover ? pour quoi faire ? dans quel but et avec quel impact sociétal et environnemental ? Bien entendu, ces questions sont centrales pour les lecteurs de la revue Innovations, qui publie régulièrement des numéros spéciaux sur, par exemple, l'innovation responsable (Debref et al., 2019), l'innovation face au changement climatique (Touzard, 2017), ou encore l'innovation pour des systèmes agroalimentaires durables (Matt, 2023).
