Technological innovation, an imperative for digitization of banks and microfinances in search of commercial performance performance

Abstract

This research describes the contribution of technological innovation to the digitalization of banks and MFIs in search of commercial performance. To achieve this, we opted for an exploratory qualitative approach. Based on an individual interview protocol, interviews were conducted with 10 bank and microfinance managers from the main cities of Cameroon (Yaoundé and Douala). The data collected was processed using NVIVO software. Thus, the results to which we arrive identify three main key factors of the contribution of technological innovation to the digitalization of banks and microfinance in search of commercial performance. These factors are linked to customer satisfaction via digital technology, linked to cost reduction via digital technology and linked to competition resulting from the imperative of digital technology. In addition, banks and microfinance come up against fierce competition and need to digitize more thanks to technological innovations in order to better meet the expectations of an increasingly demanding customer base.
