Abstract

Non-profit organisations play a major role in the implementation of public policies in France. That is why they are widely supported by public actors at various levels. In a context of increasing data production and extended use of quantified indicators, local public authorities tend to develop knowledge on local non-profit organisations, both to integrate them into development strategies and to respond to their needs. In this way, the observatories of local non-profit organisation (OLVA) contribute to producing statistical data on the non-profit organisation at local level, and is also a tool for the production of inter-knowledge and sharing between the actors of the territory. Our communication will be based on case studies of several local observatories part of the National Network of Associations Centres (réseau national des maisons des associations / RNMA). We will discuss the leadership role in territorial governance, either by local public action or by intermediate actors such as non-profit organisations.
