Les facteurs explicatifs de l’alignement stratégique au sein d’un écosystème. Quelles leçons tirer de l’histoire du Flipper ?

Abstract

Un écosystème est un ensemble hétérogène d'acteurs qui alignent leurs intérêts et suivent une logique de co-spécialisation pour qu'une proposition de valeur se matérialise. Pour de nombreux auteurs, la question de l'alignement est la clé du succès de l'écosystème. Pourtant, notre compréhension des facteurs qui le permettent reste partielle. L'objectif de cette recherche est de mieux cerner l'influence des facteurs qui favorisent ou contraignent l'alignement des membres d'un écosystème. Après avoir relevé dans la littérature six facteurs principaux, nous menons une étude historique de l'écosystème « Flipper », de sa naissance au début des années 1930 à son actuel déclin. L'étude de cas unique confirme les effets du pouvoir, des mécanismes de distribution de la valeur et de la co-adoption des innovations, déjà soulignés dans la littérature. Elle permet également d'enrichir notre compréhension du processus d'alignement sur trois points : les effets contrastés de la transformation technologique ; le paradoxe de l'intervention publique dont l'opposition au développement de l'écosystème peut favoriser l'alignement ; l'importance de l'identité qui favorise la coordination entre les membres mais les empêche aussi de renouveler leur alignement.
