Abstract

The growth of startups represents an important indicator for understanding their success. The objective of this article is to comprehend the growth trajectories of these companies in connection with the evolution of their business models driven by digitization. It relies on a multiple case study conducted with 14 French startups and focuses on how their leaders perceive the studied themes. The results reveal that startups can follow two different growth trajectories and provide new insights into their life cycle in relation to these trajectories. Finally, the article identifies three potential reconfigurations of startup business models through digitalization.
