Abstract

As part of a book on management theses, Hervé Dumez was interviewed by Albane Grandazzi and Juliette Senne on the issue of epistemological positioning. The interview revisits the notions of positivism, constructivism and interpretativism, but also and above all the epistemological risks specific to qualitative research (which should be described as comprehensive): circularity, abstract actors and failure to take equifinality into account. The main message is that epistemological questions must be and are concrete questions (Latour: "the work of abstraction is a concrete profession").
