L'interprétation économique de l'impérialisme chez Schumpeter : renversement du matérialisme historique et légitimation du capitalisme

Abstract

Cette présentation propose une reconstruction de la théorie schumpétérienne de l'impérialisme et démontre comment elle se situe en contradiction de l'analyse austromarxiste en procédant à un double renversement : méthodologique d'une part par la réduction du matérialisme historique à une "hypothèse de travail" et conceptuel d'autre part, en faisant de l'impérialisme un atavisme issu des structures guerrières féodales. Ce faisant, l'article montre comment ce double renversement permet à Schumpeter de disqualifier l'approche marxiste en proposant un narratif de légitimation du capitalisme comme processus de pacification des relations internationales et de désintégration de l'impérialisme.
