Abstract

Comment parler ensemble sans avoir un même vocabulaire ? Les définitions de plus en plus nombreuses de l'économie circulaire témoignent tout autant d'un engouement croissant pour ce concept, que de l'absence d'un consensus sur sa portée, systémique ou segmentée, et plus ou moins transformative (Friant et al., 2020; Kirchherr et al., 2017, 2023). Cette communication propose en réhabilitant la première définition de l'économie circulaire de l'économiste Boulding (1966, 1972), auteur de la Théorie générale des systèmes (Boulding, 1956), de la mettre en discussion avec la littérature actuelle de l'approche systémique de l'économie circulaire. La communication étudie ainsi les caractéristiques systémiques du concept, la résistance au changement qu'il soulève, et sa capacité mobilisatrice d'objet frontière (Star & Griesemer, 1989).
