Abstract

This paper aims to investigate the effect of boundary management on workload and resulting work-life conflict among Québec notaries. Based on an online survey among notaries, the study outlines the importance of coworkers' expectations in preserving occupational health. Results show that having coworkers who expect that work and life remain separate has a beneficial effect on notaries' work-life conflict due to reduced workload. The article proposes an organizational culture based on role segmentation to help notaries reduce work-life interferences.
