Abstract

An essential prerequisite for the implementation and field testing of visitor flow management solutions is the availability of objective, quantified and up-to-date data, ideally continuous throughout the year and over an hourly (or at least half-day) time-span. To date, however, there is still a lack of data available in barometric format, particularly for small island territories. By illustrating the case of a project to measure and qualify tourist and excursion visitor numbers on island territories, the research presented here demonstrates the contribution of a stakeholder theory approach to projects based on obtaining data on tourism.
