Abstract

Les Groupes d'Entraide Mutuelle (GEM) sont des associations de personnes en fragilite psychique, luttant contre leur isolement social et cherchant plus largement a5 encourager leur autonomie. Pour cela, les GEM promeuvent l'entraide entre pairs et la pleine participation aux de cisions communes du collectif. Cette dernie5 re dimension est pre cieuse. Si elle confe5 re un certain degre de de cision aux personnes en souffrance psychique, elle semble cependant contrarie e par un important encadrement institutionnel. Ceci interroge sur la porte e ve ritable de cette marge de de cision et sur le paradoxe de GEM en que te d'autonomie mais en re alite tre5 s encadre s. A partir des re sultats pre liminaires d'une enque te ethnographique en cours, ce chapitre propose de montrer comment se re sout ce paradoxe. En particulier, il importe d'expliciter ce que l'on entend par « autonomie ». Plus ge ne ralement, l'e tude des GEM permet de faire des propositions quant au ro le des parties-prenantes en tant que garantes des ide aux et de l'exigence e thique des organisations alternatives.
