Quelle vision organisante pour une IA éthique ?

Abstract

Apparue dès les années 1950 aux Etats-Unis autour des travaux de Minsky et McCarthy (Ganascia, 2017 ; Haenlein & Kaplan, 2019), l'Intelligence Artificielle (IA) connaît un fort regain d'attention depuis que plusieurs facteurs ont contribué à l'essor de sa mise en œuvre dans de nombreux domaines d'application. La diffusion de l'IA s'accompagne parallèlement d'interrogations fortes sur les questions éthiques que cette technologie soulève. S'ils ne sont pas nouveaux dans le contexte des technologies numériques et de l'informatisation de la société (Mason, 1986), ces questionnements semblent particulièrement vigoureux au sujet de l'IA, précisément en raison de son caractère « intelligent », c'est-à-dire apprenant et adaptatif, et de l'extension potentiellement très importante de ses domaines d'application. Dans ce contexte, l'objectif de cet article est d'appréhender le discours sur l'éthique de l'IA. Pour ce faire, nous utilisons le cadre théorique de la vision organisante proposé par Swanson et Ramiller (1997) qui analyse la manière dont les idées soutiennent les processus d'émergence et de diffusion des innovations en matière de TI. Nos résultats permettent de mettre en évidence les composantes de la VO de l'IA éthique et notamment le know what, know why et know how.
