Abstract

The emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Human Resources (HR) and the practice of coaching are giving rise to new developmental and pedagogical possibilities to develop the competence of leaders and future leaders in professional and university training. In this study, we propose the idea that the use of tools automating the questioning of coaching through AI can be considered as pedagogical, andragogical and heutagogic tools, allowing the development of managerial skills such as the competence of leaders, understood as a capability for critical reasoning in situation that develops throughout professional and personal life, in the flow of professional and personal activity. This article proposes an empirical study on the use of a coaching tool with AI in different contexts such as business, freelance activity and university. Our empirical material is built on feedback from users of an AI-automated coaching tool (PocketConfidant) developed between 2018 and 2020. A thematic analysis of feedback allows us to understand that automated coaching by AI makes it possible to increase the capabilities of individuals through situational reflection. This article offers a reflection on the use of AI and coaching in the development of leader competence and positions its use as a tool for developing learners' critical reasoning skills in their everyday experiences.
