Abstract
A framework fostering the consideration of ethics during the design of industrial cyber-physical systems is proposed. This framework considers the whole lifecycle of industrial cyber-physical systems. It has been constructed through three dimensions which are the subject, the requester and the time. An application of this framework, Dathali16, is presented. Dathali16 enables the identification of ethical risks of future industrial cyber-physical systems, as a first step towards their mitigation. Even at its early stage of development, the potential benefits of Dathali16 to help identify and mitigate ethical risks are clearly pointed out. It also illustrates how the proposed framework can be used by researchers wishing to pay attention to ethics during their design. The proposed framework remains to be improved but can be used in other contexts such as the definition of ethics-aware products and services.
