Abstract

Africa constitutes a relevant field to analyze confrontation between the main world brewing players who wish to benefit from the strong potential development of these markets by consolidating their presence through numerous strategic actions. Our work aims to understand the competitive dynamics by crossing geographic scales and levels of strategic analysis. Based on a collection of secondary data, we will illustrate through this exploratory research, five cases of coopetitive actions of the main players in the beer and beverage sectors in Africa. Our results confirm the complexity of competitive situations and the relevance of cross-level analysis, and enhance needs for a global and multidimensional approach to understand competitive dynamics in progress.
