Abstract

Depuis quelques années déjà, les trajectoires d'internationalisation des firmes multinationales des pays émergents (FMNE) interrogent les approches théoriques en management international. L'objet de ce travail est d'identifier les spécificités de l'internationalisation des FMNE à travers un bref panorama de travaux empiriques existants et l'étude de l'internationalisation de JBS, firme brésilienne leader mondiale des viandes, cas d'étude qui viendrait s'ajouter aux travaux précédents. Notre approche qualitative et exploratoire nous a conduit à exploiter des données internes à l'entreprise et des informations secondaires, issues de la presse spécialisée nationale et internationale. Cela nous a permis de retracer une cinquantaine d'opérations d'acquisitions au Brésil et à l'étranger et ce depuis 1953, date de la création de JBS. Nos résultats ont permis de confirmer que l'internationalisation des FMNE suit une trajectoire spécifique et obéit à des logiques particulières : forte financiarisation, acquisitions de filiales de groupes internationaux, servant ensuite à acquérir d'autres firmes, expansion géographique maitrisée et visant la sécurisation des approvisionnements et de la distribution, et fort appui des institutions financières et politiques du pays d'origine.
