Abstract

Le XXIe siècle s'ouvre sur un ensemble de questions restées sans réponses et rattachées à la thématique du développement durable. Dans ce contexte, la question de l'énergie est centrale. En effet, toute activité nécessite l'utilisation d'énergie, la littérature montrant une relation positive entre le développement économique et la consommation d'énergie. De plus, selon le GIEC, l'énergie est la principale source d'émissions de CO2. Toutefois, les projections sont assez pessimistes pour l'Afrique subsaharienne car, selon l'AIE, encore 500 millions de personnes n'auront pas accès à l'électricité en 2030 et 820 millions de personnes continueront d'utiliser des moyens traditionnels de cuisson à cette échéance. Donc, certains enjeux socioéconomiques et environnementaux comme la santé, l'éducation, la lutte contre la pauvreté et la désertification, tous liés à la question de l'accès à l'énergie et concernant directement les populations, sont urgents. C'est en ce sens que la question de l'accès des ménages à l'énergie devient cruciale dans la problématique du développement durable.
