Abstract

The agroecological transition of livestock systems has to address the strong criticisms about livestock practices and their mainspring. Implementing it is however not without question for Livestock farmers, along with all the stakeholders involved in livestock production. This article, which is the result of work carried out in the PSDR4 ATARI project, attempts to provide some answers to the general question of how to support the agro-ecological transition of livestock systems and more particularly on (i) the processes of commitment or not of the breeders and the actors involved in breeding in the agroecological transition of the breeding systems (ii) the promising alternative forms of breeding to operate the agroecological transition and the ways to develop them (iii) the modalities of intervention for the accompaniment of the breeders in their activities.
