Abstract

Morocco has carried out a series of reforms to ensure the successful development of the governance framework of Moroccan companies. These efforts have been mainly in the form of legal and institutional reforms. With the objective of adopting a corporate governance code aligned with the OECD's governance principles, Morocco has been quick to take all the necessary steps to successfully raise awareness among Moroccan companies, particularly listed companies, on the subject of corporate governance. However, although the first phase of raising awareness and establishing the foundations of governance has been successfully completed, the shortcomings of corporate governance today demonstrate the presence of major challenges and approaches that need to be reconsidered.
